Competitive Philosophy at Momentum
It is our basic and fundamental competitive team philosophy at Momentum to provide each and every athlete an environment in which they can reach every ounce of their potential, and achieve the greatest levels of success while fostering the highest levels of personal self-esteem and self-confidence. Teaching life skills, personal integrity and character are the cornerstones of this philosophy as we help to shape each of our athletes into strong, powerful and courageous young people.
The JO Development Program was developed with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely. The program allows the gymnast to advance at her own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if she so chooses. The Women's Development Program is divided into three major segments; developmental, compulsory, and optional.
The Developmental Levels 1 through 3 may be used as a non-competitive and achievement-oriented program for use within a gym's pre-team program, or they may be used as an introductory/recreational competitive program. States may offer State Championships for these levels.
The second part consists of Compulsory Levels 4 and 5. Both of these levels are progressive in nature, building upon the skills required at the previous level. Competitive opportunities are provided up to and including the USA Gymnastics State Championships.
The third segment is the Optional Levels 6-10. Levels 6, 7, 8, and 9 have difficulty restrictions, while Level 10 has no restrictions in the skill choice. Composition is evaluated at Levels 8, 9, and 10. Refer to the Development Code of Points for a complete explanation of Level 6-10 rules. (usagym.org).
We have top of the line coaches with the highest of quality coaching statuses. We are passionate about each and every one of our athletes and their fastest track to success within the JO Program. At Momentum Athletic Center, we offer all levels of JO. Those are Levels 1 through Level 10 within the USAG regulations.

The Xcel Program is an alternative USA Gymnastics competitive program offering individual flexibility to coaches and gymnasts. The goal of Xcel is to provide gymnasts of varying abilities and commitment levels the opportunity for a rewarding gymnastics experience.
We offer highly approved and qualified coaches within our XCEL program. Our goal is to accommodate the hustle and bustle of the time the athletes spend outside of the gym as well as helping them reach their full potential inside the gym. Lily Baker - Coach
Hello, my name is Lily and I am so excited to be coaching at Momentum with the Xcel Gold, Platinum and Diamond Teams! A little about me: I grew up in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, just 25 minutes outside of Philadelphia. I started doing gymnastics at age 3 and competed on my hometown gym’s Junior Olympic team until I graduated from high school. I started coaching when I was just a sophomore in high school with preschool, developmental, and levels 1-4 classes. I attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC where I also coached at a local gym throughout my four years of college. At this gym I coached the Xcel Silver-Diamond team. I also started a club gymnastics team at my college that practiced at this same gym and has now been actively competing for three years. I served as founder and president of this team during my last two years of college. I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and have recently accepted my first full-time nursing position with the Porter Adventist Hospital Emergency Department where I will be working as well as at Momentum.
I started out as a gymnastics camper at Woodward Camp in 2008 and have been back every summer since working as a junior counselor throughout high school and then a gymnastics coach for the last four summers. Woodward Camp is home to world-class gymnastics training facilities and some of the most experienced and well-known coaches in the nation from whom I learned the majority of my coaching and spotting techniques. At camp I coached levels 3-10 and even elite gymnasts and college commits.
Ariana De La Garza - Coach
Hi I’m Ariana! I was born and raised in Centennial, Colorado. I was a gymnast for 12 years and competed in both the CARA and EAGLES programs here in Colorado. Not ready to move on from being in the gym I began coaching soon after my last season I competed. I have coached a wide range of levels including preschool, developmental, XCEL, and Junior Olympic (JO) levels 3-5, over the past 8 years.
Throughout high school I competed for my school’s varsity gymnastics team as well as coaching preschool and recreational gymnastics at Goodson Recreation Center. After graduation I moved to Manhattan, Kansas to attend Kansas State University where I studied Communications and Marketing. Shortly after moving to Kansas I began working at Manhattan Gymnastics Academy. I coached Developmental, Pre-team, team XCEL, and JO throughout my time there. I graduated from KSU and am now working full-time as a Software Communications Specialist for an oil and gas consulting firm here in Denver.
I have been lucky enough to be a part of the Momentum family for a couple years now and I am so blessed to be able to call Momentum home. I currently coach Xcel Bronze and Silver and have loved every minute of it! I am so excited to continue to help your kiddos achieve their goals and be a part of their gymnastics journey!
Madison Major - Coach
Hi, I'm Madison Major and I have been welcomed into the Momentum family since August 2020. The month before I started my coaching journey here, I packed up my things and moved across the country from my home state Kentucky. My new home is in Golden Colorado and I am so thrilled to be living in such a beautiful area. My gymnastics career truly began when I was invited onto a USAG gymnastics team at the age of 6. There I competed for the next 10 years, all while building the foundation of gymnastics knowledge. Once I moved away for school, I found a new love for coaching. I was fascinated with how applicable my studies in psychology were every day in the gym. There I was the co-head coach for an AAU level 2 team, and in addition to that I spent most of my time coaching USAG levels 2-6 and Xcel levels silver-platinum for 3 years. I'm hoping to soon further my educational journey at the University of Denver and pursue a Master's degree in the psychology of coaching so I can continue to grow and become the best coach I can be.
Christy Campbell - Coach
My name is Christy Campbell! I was originally born & raised in North Carolina, but have spent the last decade all over the East Coast; from Alabama to Montreal. I am beyond thrilled to make the journey out West to join the Momentum family & to put my roots down in Colorado! Always an active person, I played multiple sports growing up. I became serious about Gymnastics & began competing in the USAG JO program in Elementary School & continued competing through High School. During that time, I also enjoyed being involved in my Middle & High School's Dance Company & Cheerleading Team. I was given the honor of receiving an All-American title for Cheer. I continued to take my training to the next level by cheering in college at Samford University on their Co-ed cheer squad. I also cheered at Virginia Tech University on their All Girl Competitive Cheerleading Team. I later on became an Assistant Coach for that very Virginia Tech squad! I have been working with, coaching, & teaching kids for over 15 years; always taking every opportunity to work with kids that I could. My coaching career began while I was in high school when I formed & coached a Cheer & Dance Team at a local elementary school in my community. However, my coaching career truly took flight while in college studying to be a Special Education Teacher. I took a part-time job coaching Special-Needs Gymnastics. It was then that my passions of gymnastics & working with kids collided. I knew coaching in the gym is where I was meant to be! My start with coaching Special-Needs, Recreational, & Pre-School classes quickly progressed into bigger roles coaching the competitive Xcel Team, Levels Silver-Diamond. That was followed by, most recently, coaching USAG JO Levels 3-10. During all of this time, I also had the pleasure of spending 10 summers working at Woodward Camp. Where I had the opportunity to be a core part of the gymnastics staff & coach alongside some of the top National & College coaches in the world, as well former Olympic & National Team Gymnasts. All from numerous countries, programs, & universities. All of these experiences & adventures have grown & shaped my passion for kids & coaching greatly! I am so excited to bring all of my knowledge & that passion to Momentum!
Ben Grado -GM, Development Manager &
JO Optional Team Coach
My name is Benjamin Grado. I have an extensive background as an acrobat that encompasses diving, gymnastics, hand balancing and performance work. I began as a gymnast at the age of 8. I was definitely born to flip and twist and when my parents put me in Gymnastics, I excelled quite quickly achieving many awards and overcoming many obstacles. I also found a passion in diving where I was able to use my gymnastics foundation to help my teammates and me excel at the University of Arizona and achieved many great accomplishments including the first National Title for the 10 Meter Platform Event at the D1 NCAA Championships. This was by far my highest accomplishment as an athlete and it lead me to a spot on the National Team as well as a spot to compete in the 2012 Olympic Trials.
I moved on to work for Cirque Du Soleil as an Acrobat/Performer for the “O” Show at the Bellagio. This experience truly shaped my passion for the discipline but also, it rounded my background as an athlete and gave me a better glimpse of how I would serve as a coach/mentor. When the Head Diving Coach positioned opened up at DU, I knew this was my chance to help younger generations through their passion of Acrobatics and teach them discipline, hard work, and dedication. This also showed me what it entails to lead, plan, create and above all, do it while maintaining a fun and healthy environment that makes each individual want to come back for more.
Tristan Lewis -Coach
Hi! My name is Tristan. I am from Fort Worth , Teas and just recently moved to Colorado in August. I was a gymnast through the USAG program as well as competing for my high school varsity team. My coaching background primarily was focused to the men’s Junior Olympic program (levels 4-10) and Junior Elite gymnastics program (Jr. and Sr. level 10). While coaching, I also managed my previous gyms tumbling program, and assisted the upper level women’s program (levels 8-10) . After 8 years of coaching on the men’s side of things, it’s been a refreshing cross over stepping into the women’s program here at Momentum and I am super excited to be apart of the Momentum family. While coaching, I obtained my bachelor's degree in Exercise Science geared towards strength and conditioning. While gymnastics has been my main focus, I also branched out a bit and interned for a company call Athletic Training + Health where I learned / taught weight room technique, sport performance training, and recovery training where we worked with injured athletes to maintain strength while out of season.
Michelle Zimmer -Coach
Michelle began coaching right after high school after competing since she was 10. She started with a small program at the YMCA in Fremont, Nebraska coaching levels 5-7. Here she specialized in beam and bars. While in Nebraska, she also coached at Nebraska Gold Gymnastics in Millard. Moving home from college, she began her tenure at Dardano’s Gymnastics in Park Hill. There she specialized in Floor with levels 5-10. She choreographed routines for levels 8-10 as well as built in difficulty within their dance and acro. She was a member of the coaching staff which competed internationally against teams from Amsterdam, Belgium and South Africa. She is most proud that one of her level 10’s from Dardano’s continued her career as a Division I gymnast at the University of Utah. During her tenure at Dardano’s, she also studied athletic training at Metro State College on Denver.
She took some time off to grow her family and came back into the sport after the sudden death of her mentor, Tim Frye. She joined the coaching team at Gymnastics Plus working with level 3-9 gymnasts. She left GP to come over to Momentum in April of 2018. Since starting at Momentum, she’s worked with every level of developmental and team and is currently the JO Level 4 coach. She loves every girl she’s helped. She has high expectations for every girl she encounters, both in gymnastics and in life. She hopes that every girl she works with will remember her as their biggest cheerleader.
Lauren Minton -Coach
My name is Lauren Minton. I started competing gymnastics when I was 8 years old and competed for about 7 years through level 8. Hi, I’m Cora! I am originally from Concord, MA, just outside of Boston. I started doing competitive gymnastics when I was 6 years old, and competed for 17 years! I grew up competing on an Xcel team, as well as doing competitive horseback riding and cheerleading. I lived in the UK for 2 years, where I competed in All Star Cheerleading in levels 4.2, 2.1, and 2! I transferred to the University of Denver in 2016. During my time at DU, I was President of Club Gymnastics for over 2 years, as well as a member of the Executive Council for all of Club Sports. I’ve been coaching gymnastics for 7 years, with levels ranging from preschool & beginner to a competitive Xcel team. I’m excited to bring my experience and knowledge to Momentum!
My daughter has been at Momentum since they opened in 2016! Momentum is more than just a gymnastics, cheer, tumbling, ninja gym, it is a family! The dedicated coaches, owners and staff truly care about the success of the athlete not only in gymnastics but also in life as well. My daughter has made life-long friendships, learned many life lessons and continues to learn and grow in her gymnastics through hard work, determination, support and FUN! I would highly recommend Momentum for anyone looking for a gym that provides not only great coaching, facilities and staff, but for a community as well!!
Jim and Melinda Webster
We have had our daughter at 2 other gyms in Parker and Momentum is by far the best! We now have both of our daughters enrolled in the XCEL program here. The owners and coaches truly want to see their gymnasts succeed and value open communication with the parents. My daughters would not dream of going to another gym and they love their coaches. The facilities are clean with ample spaces for parents to watch and they even have toys and tvs to help entertain any younger siblings while they wait. Anytime we have had a question or a concern it has been promptly addressed. I highly recommend Momentum for both cheer and gymnastics for girls of any age!
Momentum is more than just an athletic facility. Besides their amazing attention to details, skilled and professional coaches and staff, and excellence in sports performance, they are a family of caring dedicated individuals that see you and your kids as people and not just a dollar sign walking in their doors. They are building a community of athletes that value hard work and dedication, but also realize that it should be fun and positive. They understand the value of keeping their structure and programs innovative and fresh. On the very rare chance there is any issue, I have always been met with a caring and sincere response followed by options to help. I recommend this group of amazing people to everyone I know because they are truly the very best. Brenda is especially amazing and always incredibly helpful and an enormous asset to this community.
